Basic training provides an overall knowledge of health and safety that applies to all workplaces. It includes training in:
Health and safety law
Hazard identification and control
Investigation techniques
Prevention resources
Every Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) must have at least two Certified members: one representing workers, and one from management. One worker and one management designated JHSC member must complete Part One and Part Two of the Training to maintain active Certification status.

This training* provides an overall knowledge of health and safety concepts that apply to all workplaces. Participants review various pieces of legislation and a number of standards for health and safety and learn proper methods of recognizing, assessing and controlling workplace health and safety hazards. In addition, the knowledge to perform an accident investigation and workplace inspection.
